It can feel silly to keep up with crate training if you have one of the special pups that reliably makes good decision outside of their crate while unsupervised. So why keep up with it?

Decompression

The crate provides a valuable opportunity for your dog to take some time to sleep, decompress, and not have to be worried about the outside world.

Practiced Separation

One of the important steps to preventing separation anxiety. If your dog has had all their need met and is able to practice healthy separation from you, your other animals, or other humans this can prevent unsavory behaviors down the road (or prevent them from recurring!) such as barking, whining, destruction in the crate, etc.

Preparing Your Dog for New Environments

Crates are a reality for your pup in other situations. Boarding, vet's offices, and grooming salons all utilize crates and kennels when your pup is not being actively working with. If crate training is not regularly practiced at home then you are contributing to even higher stress levels for your pup in these already stressful situations.

Car Safety

The safest way for your dog to ride in a vehicle is in a crash tested crate. We utilize Rufflands Kennels and also recommend Gunner and Impact Crates.
